Dr.-Ing. Edmund Ritter von Herz (born on 16.08.1891 in Campina near Bucharest – died on 11.06.1964).
Employee of the Dynamit Nobel in Köln-Dellbrück from 1928 until 1945. The reintegration of his development laboratory into the Dynamit Nobel AG took place from 1952. In the field of research and development of energetic materials, Dr. Ritter von Herz may be called a typical „all-round talent“ of his time, which is also documented by a wealth of granted patents. Amongst other things, he discovered the 5-Nitrotetrazole and, in collaboration with Dr. Hans Rathsburg from the chemical laboratory of the Dynamit Nobel, Stadeln Works in Fürth, developed the world-famous SINOXID primer composition. He was also active in the broad field of pyrotechnics, as with the development of vole smoke cartridges („Herz-cartridges“), signal flares and compressed gas cartridges. |
